After the invention of the cotton gin, the yield of raw cotton doubled each decade after 1800. Demand was fueled by other inventions of the industrial revolution, such as the machine to spin and weave it and the steamboat to transport it. This helped with the cotton growth and other cotton based items that were need for everyday life.It caused these changes because it made cotton growing and weaving much easier. This helped with an everyday life of people in the late 1700s and early 1800s.It changed this country by making it the one to grow the most cotton, and ship it England and New England. Making America very important during the industrial revolution. It lead to the Civil War.
The growth of cotton production affected the world. The Northern part of the United States bought more cotton and bulit more texttile mills. England built more textile mills and demanded much more cotton. These were two big markers on which the South sold their cotton. TH souht was not able to built textile mills because their capital was tied up in theri slaves so that they could produce more cotton. The south also did not have the need ot the capital to build up a good trasportation system, such as canals and railroads.
